CANTON, OH – U.S. Senate candidate Jane Timken held the kickoff event tonight for “Parents for Jane” in Central Ohio with a group of over 150 parents, students, and families across the state. The “Parents for Jane” grassroots coalition is an extension of Jane’s “Parents First” statewide tour and highlights her continued focus on education and the issues concerning families across the state.
“Democrats have waged a war on parents by fighting to keep schools closed, pushing radical ideologies on children at the expense of a good education, and colluding with the National School Boards Association to label parents ‘domestic terrorists,'” said Timken. “As a mom and Ohio’s next Senator, I will always stand on the side of parents to decide what is best for their child’s health, education and well-being, not politicians, special interests or teachers unions. I firmly believe that taking back our country starts with taking back our classrooms.”
Jane was joined today by “Parents for Jane” Chair State Representative Marilyn John, sponsor of Ohio’s Backpack Bill, and Co-Chair Cathy Pultz, a mom, activist, and former teacher.
“Parents for Jane” members will act as grassroots leaders for the campaign in all 88 Ohio counties, organizing events and utilizing traditional in-person campaigning as well as digital mediums to share Jane’s message on putting parents back at the center of their children’s health, education, and well-being.
This coalition launch, the second of the cycle behind “Women for Jane,” comes on the heels of Jane’s release of her “Parents First” curriculum and her “Parents First” listening tour. The campaign has already held dozens of “Women for Jane” and “Parents First” events as Jane continues to grow her support as the grassroots, consensus candidate that can unify the Party and win.
Today, Jane became the first Senate candidate to officially file for the ballot and recentpolling confirms Timken, as a first-time candidate, continues to climb on the ballot and is in second place, closing in on first.
